USING A SEARCH/RECRUITING FIRM:
GETTING YOUR MONEY'S WORTH
If you have never used a firm before to fill a position, or if your previous attempts have been unsuccessful, read the following tips and really get your money's worth.
1. First of all, and MOST IMPORTANT: give us as much information as you can on the position you are trying to fill. What will the person be doing? How many years of experience should he or she have? Do you require a degree or professional license? Finally, a salary range is very helpful. Many candidates feel that jobs without salary information are posted by companies who are just building resume pools, rather than by serious employers.
2. Give us as much information as you can on your company. Part of our job is to attract qualified candidates to your door. It's a lot easier if we know something about your company and location: why would someone want to move to your city, besides the job you're offering? Is it scenic? Are there cultural aspects? Sports teams or facilities? Give us your web site address, if you have one.
3. When we send you resumes, take a moment to read them over. We'll be following up with you for your comments, and even if the initial resumes are not quite what you are looking for, let us know why. The more we know, the better we can find the best-qualified people for your company.
4. If you are truly interested in a candidate, let us know as soon as possible. The candidates we work with are screened, which means we have already evaluated their qualifications and availability. Most of them are not on the job market for a long time because they are highly qualified and motivated job seekers.
